IPv6 Gaming
After setting up
eleutherNet I
have been quite interested in IPv6. Unfortunately, there are so few
good open source games that support IPv6. Luckily, I have found a couple
patches for different games and hope to promote IPv6 usage. I use
Hurricane Electric's IPv6 tunnel
broker.
Games:
The following games are all IPv6 enabled and in
Icadyptes'
repository. I also provide Arch packages which are exactly the same as
the Icadyptes packages except with a renamed extension. PKGBUILD's can
be found
here.
netris: I noticed that NetBSD's IPv6 enabled applications list
showed netris. The vanilla source code does not have IPv6 support, so I
found NetBSD's patch and added it. netris is only client-to-client, so
there are no dedicated servers. If you would like to play a game of
ncurses tetris over IPv6 in eleutherNet
or elsewhere,
let me know :-).

iMaze-IPv6: www.kame.net has a slightly broken (but only needs two
lines of changes) IPv6 patch. It does not support dual stack for the
server. Thus, my iMaze server is only on IPv6 (directly on the internet
and in eleutherNet). Due to iMaze's copyright notice I had to rename the
package and source (I guess this may have officially forked it :-P) for
adding the IPv6 patch. The server is accessible via eleuther.net (both on
the server's IPv6 address, and in eleutherNet) on the
default port, with server options of "-6 -c 45 -R", and the 25x25 lab.
This is a great game, and I really recommend trying it out (especially
with the reflective mode turned on).
